Have you heard about Zoom Events? No, not events on Zoom but the new platform from Zoom called Zoom Events?
[ P.s I think this is one of the silliest things they could have named the platform. As most people already referred to events on Zoom as “Zoom Events”, this name has caused more confusion than clarity for most. ]
When we first came across Zoom Events we thought it would be a really cool product that amplified the usage of Zoom to support larger scaled events. Zoom is great for meetings and meetups but you’re limited when it comes to production value such as having transitions, sharing videos, and branding.
Nonetheless, many of our clients and partners are willing to forgo those production enhancements due to Zoom’s ease of use and accessibility. Zoom Events was a promise to amplify the production experience of Zoom. A win-win right?
Well… not exactly.
That promise fell short as the reality sunk in that Zoom Events, launched way too soon, didn’t offer enough difference from Zoom Meeting or Webinar and was more complicated to set up and more limiting than the original product.
As of today, we can clearly see the use case for Zoom Events but the tool itself hasn’t held up a compelling value proposition to validate its creation.
