How to Enable Your Webcam and Mic Permissions in Google Chrome

  1. When inside of the Google Chrome browser, select the three dots at the far right.
  2.  Head over to settings (the second to last option in the menu.) Once inside of settings, select “Privacy and security.”
  3. In “Privacy and security” the second option “Site Settings” is what you want to hit.
  4. Scroll down to view the camera and microphone icons.
  5. View the camera settings first. It’ll show what camera you have enabled. Using the drop-down menu, you can select which camera is the primary one. Then, you could toggle “ask before accessing”, which I usually toggle on. Below that, it shows the sites allowed to access your camera. Most of the sites you’ve allowed to access your camera are probably webinar or virtual camera platforms.
  6. Then, you want to hit the arrow to go back out of that. Select the microphone icon and do the same thing. If you have multiple mics, select the proper mic that you want to use. Then toggle “ask before accessing” on and off. Again, it’ll show you all the platforms allowed to access your microphone. You can also block certain sites from accessing this. If you want to double-check if a platform (eg. webinar jam) is approved, you can check that it has been approved for use by viewing these mic settings.
